First Thursday Artist Meeting
December 3, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Join us for an online chat about art matters.
It was agreed that the December First Thursday Artist Meeting would be a seasonal celebration of winter festivals such as Diwali, Christmas and Hanukkah. Participants are invited to select or create a suitable zoom background and bring along something about mid-winter to talk about (and of course your own beverage and snacks of choice!). Tara Rutledge and Lauryn Dunn agreed to lead the session.
This meeting will take place via zoom. The link to First Thursday meetings is the same each month and is sent out in Artist Listings newsletters. ALL artists are welcome so if you are not one of our Artist Listings artists just email firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Request First Thursday Link’ in the subject line and we’ll send the link to you 🙂
At the November Artist Meeting we talked about how artists were negotiating the restrictions of lockdown. There was discussion about studios, time for creativity etc. There were lots of different approaches. John Whitmore told us about the new zine he has created in lockdown. Tara shared some links to training. Mindy spoke about Artspace leaving the Row and the launch of the a_shop. We also discussed how useful Helen Kilby Nelson’s Speedy Crits had been, and whether the Artist Meetings should be replaced by them. It was agreed that the Artist Meetings and Speedy Crits serve different needs and both should be maintained. There was also interest expressed for more talks from artists.
