The Art of Curation Evening Talk #3

Providing illustrations from a range of recent projects, Sue Ball sets out to explorethe solidarity economy or ‘the commons’ and its dynamic impact on the production of art and the making of place. Sue Ball will investigate three of her public projects that explore slow architecture and the time-based currencies that sides tep the apparent ‘need’ for new building based operations, a timely provocation as Coventry enters its 2021 build-up.

Sue Ball is a cultural producer who works in the context of social and spatial design, and Director Media and Arts Partnership (MAAP). She operates in the gaps between sectors and disciplines to generate new professional learning and interdisciplinary design processes for urban space, and works to mobilise and strengthen value systems related to place and community. Her clients include Canal and Rivers Trust with projects at Warwick Bar in Digbeth, Birmingham, and current work with The Decorators to co‐produce a significant public realm space at Limehouse Basin, East London. Sue has worked with notable international artists in the fields of public practice and sound art, and co-founded Leeds Creative Timebank in 2009, a formalised system for its 160 members to transact. She is Exec Chair for Contemporary Visual Arts Network (Yorkshire).
