The aim of our Artist Listings initiative was to raise the profile of visual artists working in Coventry and Warwickshire. We have now developed The Exchange which builds on the work of our original Artist Listings.
Each month we selected an artist from the Listings to promote as our ‘Artist in Focus’. The Listings helped us and our partners develop a better picture of the artists that are practicing in the city. We will also be encouraging other organisations to use the Listings when they are considering how to find local visual artists to work with. The Listings have been used by Coventry Biennial of Contemporary Art to select a local artist for a £600 commission for new work to be shown at the 2019 Biennial. We have also launched a new initiative with Twisted Barrel Brewery and Tap House that will see the Twisted Barrel team select a local artist from the Listings every 3 months to design a new beer can label. We will be looking for more opportunities to work with cultural partners, local businesses and organisations to widen the range of opportunities available to local artists.
