Having spent his formative years living in the residential area of Northfield, Birmingham, Adam has witnessed first hand the changing face of industry and the way in which this has altered social class categorisations within the U.K. The intricacies of his surroundings have manifested themselves within his practice. Growing up in a traditional ‘working-class’ family, Adam has been able to witness specific changes and how the ‘working-class’ has adapted to contemporary societal changes such as the advancement of technology, and the changing shift from production to consumption.
‘In Loving Memory Of’ explores the fleeting presence of traditional working-class culture through the lens-based translation of ephemeral objects and environments. In an attempt to elucidate contemporary working-class culture, Neal investigates the current condition of integral environments from his formative years, extracting poignant memories and satirical anecdotes from them.
The Exhibition is open 2-6pm from 16th to 24th August. Not open Sundays
