We are proud to be collaborating with St Mary’s Guildhall and Hardish Virk on the ‘What We Wore: Stories of South Asian Textiles’ exhibition and supporting programme of activities for South Asian Heritage Month.
‘What We Wore: Stories of South Asian Textiles’ is an exhibition exploring the theme of South Asian textiles and fashion inspired by the thousands of items found in the ‘Stories That Made Us’ South Asian archive (managed by Hardish Virk in partnership with Coventry Artspace). The archive includes clothes, music, photographs and art including audio recordings and writings of late author and radio broadcaster, Jasvir Kang. The interactive exhibition will include pre-recorded audio of Jasvir’s poem “My Mother’s Sari” in Punjabi, and will create a living museum, where the audience can engage with the exhibition, through touch, sound and smell.
There will also be a programme of supporting workshops and events.
Exhibition Opening Times: Mon – Thurs: 10am – 5pm, Fri – Sun: 10am – 4pm
