Speedy Crit

Please join Artist Anne Forgan and Curator Alice Swatton for the next Speedy Crits session, Wednesday the 4th May, 6.30-7.30pm on zoom.
Artist and Producer Anne Forgan is hoping to explore some questions that many artists will recognise: what’s the point, what is success to me, how do I commit time and energy to my art consistently, without seeing it as an indulgence?
Alice Swatton is currently working as a Freelance Curator, she has worked in the West Midlands region as a curator in the arts sector for over a decade. Previous roles have included, Midlands Arts Centre (MAC), Birmingham and Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum. Recent exhibitions she has curated/ co-curated include Maryam Wahid – Zaibunnisa, Nilupa Yasmin – Tera A Star and UKBFTOG – We Are Here. Alice is particularly interested in supporting and providing a platform for artists that have been traditionally underrepresented through art history. She is passionate about inclusion and access within the arts, and developing a collaborative curatorial approach to her practice.

Speedy Crits are for creatives based in Coventry and Warwickshire who are interested in receiving professional feedback about their art practice and work processes. Also for people interested to listen in and learn more about a particular art practice.
Each Speedy Crit session takes 45 mins – 1 hour and consists of a 5 minute presentation from an artist. This is followed by a discussion between the artist and the industry mentor about their current work in progress. Participants are then invited to ask questions and/or join the discussion if they wish. It’s a great way to find out more about an artist’s work and gain an insight into career development in the art world.
